Try To Detect.

Try To Detect mesothelioma and pancreatic cancer:

U.S. scientists have certain changes in the blood of patients with two fatal cancers that allow doctors to diagnose the disease before were found.
With a new imaging technology Soma Logic Inc, a research team of the company said that it detects early signs o Try To Detectf pancreatic cancer and a type of lung cancer mesothelioma patients diagnosed yet untreated.
"This type of pancreatic cancer is detected at an advanced stage, when the chances of recovery are minimal," Rachel Ostroff, director of clinical research and Soma logic for the presentation of the results told a meeting of the American Association for Cancer Research Inc.
"The detection of these aggressive cancers at an early stage would identify patients, the treatment that will improve the survival and quality of life," he said.
Pancreatic cancer is relatively rare, but it is the fourth leading cause of cancer death in the United States. Mesothelioma caused by asbestos kills 15,000 to 20,000 people per year worldwide.
The latter is characterized by the deterioration of mesothelioma, a lining of several body cavities: the peritoneum (lining of the abdominal cavity), the virginal dress and pericardium (lining of the heart), but the vast majority of cases originate in the pleura (membrane that lines the chest cavity and lungs).
People exposed to asbestos for a long time, or high levels of asbestos have a higher risk of developing malignant mesothelioma, but also those who are exposed for a short time, can develop this disease, which tends to last a long time after to see the exposition at least 15 years old to be (usually 20 to 40 years). This disease is diagnosed is usually between 50 and 70 years, men are more likely to contract the disease (which is more likely to be exposed to asbestos).
The new technology recognizes the disease through the analysis of proteins in a drop of blood. Soma logic tests using fragments of genetic material, which bind to proteins. Soma Logic developed technology that achieves these molecules bind specific proteins.
The team analyzed blood samples from cancer patients and control groups of diseases (symptoms similar to those of cancer, such as lung fibrosis or pancreatitis produce).
The researchers used computer models to identify biomarkers of biological differences or differ from blood samples of cancer patients in the control group.
For cancer, the researchers found that biomarkers for high precision and specificity to detect any type of cancer. Now it will be confirmed in other studies, in order to ensure the reproduction of diagnostic tests.
"It's very easy to discover biomarkers, validate, but on the other hand, it is difficult," said Ostroff, who announced analyze that the team was able to generate a number of factors, the false alarm, such as age of a sample in a rack, before subjected to proof.
